Letter from the Prime Minister

It gives me great pleasure to offer this message of support for the Australian Business Week (ABW) Enterprise Education program.

The Australian Government believes that the single most important thing that you can do for a young Australian is to give them a chance of a decent education. A key element of this policy focus is the need to encourage secondary schools to offer students learning opportunities that provide links to the world of employment and vocations, alongside the more traditional subjects learnt at school.

The ABW Enterprise Education program offers many opportunities – not only for learning vital business techniques and for providing an understanding of how the market works, but also for learning the important skills of effective communication, strategic thinking and team-work. Skills such as these will be invaluable in students’ transition to the workplace or further education and training, which in turn will maximise our potential for future national prosperity.

I am pleased to support this important initiative and encourage all ABW participants to rise to the challenge and make the most of your experience in the program.
