Teachers Program 4 - IT

Overview

Here is an opportunity for your or a team of up to 10 colleagues from your school to take part in a challenge that will test your problem solving skills and build enthusiasm (while bonding with your colleagues) as you compete against teachers from other schools across Australia.

The challenge is to take over an established sporting goods company implementing IT strategies and run the company for simulated one year. Teacher teams make all the decisions necessary to run their company in a simulated global marketplace.

There are four sets of decisions, one a week in real time which are sent to ABW via the internet and then processed on the ABW server. A new set of financial reports are then accessible over the internet soon after the decision deadline to enable you to work on your strategy before the next deadline. Excitement builds each Quarter as the original share price of $5 grows or declines according to the appropriateness of the decisions made by each company.

Schedule for Teachers Program 4

  • Decision 1 - Thursday 30 Oct - 2.30pm AEST
  • Decision 2 - Thursday 6 Nov - 2.30pm AEST
  • Decision 3 - Thursday 13 Nov - 2.30pm AEST
  • Decision 4 - Thursday 20 Nov - 2.30pm AEST

The assessment value is calculated by the computer based on share price. The winning company is the company with the consistently highest share price across the simulated one year period. Share price is a reflection of how well the management team has run the company and maximised the performance indicators of After Tax Profit, Market Share, Return on Assets, Debt Ratio, Return on Equity, Total Assets, Occupancy and Gross Yield.
