ABW Resource Kit

 

ABW State Program

The ABW co-ordinator will receive a Kit which is designed to assist in the administration, promotion and delivery of a program.

 

For the College:

  • Administration Manual - provides all the information needed and steps involved for a coordinator to run the program
  • ABW Overview Videos & PowerPoint - contains an overview of ABW, Promotional Video, as well as some examples of student produced video advertisements. It is ideal to show to others to provide an understanding of the ABW Enterprise Education program
  • Participant Manual - outlines the program elements, judging criteria, the simulation and how to interpret the decision sheet and reports. There is one sent for each student and mentor participants
  • Mentor Manual - outlines similar information as the participant manual with additional guides to help mentors contribute to student learning
  • Simulation Manual - contains instructions on how to load and run the computer simulation
  • Simulation - either distributed on CD or accessed online
  • Simulation Lecture - includes an audio recording, PowerPoint presentation and overheads providing a background for the person conducting the lecture
  • Lecture Videos CD - includes Marketing, Financial Management and Operations
  • Financial Management CD - includes an audio recording
  • Range of Document Masters - includes letters and certificates, templates, decision sheets, etc to photocopy for use within the program
  • ABW Program Files & Enhancement Ideas CD - contains ABW document masters and enhancement ideas for the program

For Students:

Each student receives a Participant Manual and an ABW Certificate of Participation, listing the Key Competencies developed during the program. Teachers can also opt for medallions to be sent for the overall winning team and for each category judged.

For Mentors:

Each mentor receives a Mentor Manual, Participant Manual and an ABW Certificate of Appreciation.

Certificate of ParticipationDuring this intensive, experiential learning program, students develop skills in the following key competencies.

  • Working with others and in teams
    Working in groups, participants were required to assume the management roles of a company and work together to negotiate the decisions necessary to operate this business for a simulated two years within a market economy.

  • Collecting, analysing and organising ideas and information
    Using a number of key reports, participants were required to determine their company’s product and pricing strategies as well as marketing, finance, operations and human resource policies.

  • Expressing ideas and information
    Analysing their company’s results, participants were required to verbally report on strategy and achievements as well as present this information in a written report.

  • Using technology
    In completing their challenges, participants were required to use a number of computer technologies including the business simulation as well as spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software.

  • Using mathematical ideas and technique
    Applying mathematical formulae and performing calculations, participants were required to assess their company’s balance sheets, profit and loss statements, share price and market position.

  • Solving problems
    Working together with team members, participants were required to openly negotiate and communicate in the process of solving complex business problems.
