Much more than great food is needed to operate a successful café. Location, suitability of menu, pricing, customer service, store cleanliness and hygiene and financial management can all significantly affect the success of such a venture.
Students will take over our established virtual café and must run it in a competitive environment. The café sells sandwiches, hot and cold beverages, snacks and cakes. Student ‘owners’ will have the opportunity to expand from a single café into a chain by opening another four cafés. Participants will learn about seasonal market demand, the impact of location, day to day operations, staff training, pricing, financials and advertising.
Participant teams will need to achieve a profit while balancing the operational requirements of their café – or chain of cafés!
